Best Selling Author Christine Handy’s “Walk Beside Me” To Be Adapted Into Feature Film Titled “WILLOW”

Best Selling Author Christine Handy’s “Walk Beside Me” To Be Adapted Into Feature Film Titled “WILLOW” Christine Handy is a bestselling author, mother and breast cancer survivor living in Miami, Florida. Her novel “Walk Beside Me” is a story that centers on a breast cancer survivor’s journey to health and wholeness. It is a fictional interpretation of Christine’s actual illness and long road to recovery. “Walk Beside Me” was recently signed for film production by Ziad Hamzeh, and will be titled “Willow”.

The new movie creation will be formally announced during breast cancer awareness month, to create a further dialogue on the devastating disease that affects one in eight US women (about 12.4%) over the course of her lifetime. Award winning actress, Sheena Colette will play the lead character, Willow Adair.

“Walk Beside Me” weaves a heartfelt path of hope, prayer and friendship as a woman fights her illness. It is a story of miracles and survival. The book was a national best seller in 2016. As of January 2018, there are more than 3.1 million women with a history of breast cancer in the U.S. This includes women currently being treated and women who have finished treatment.

About 40,920 women in the U.S. are expected to die in 2018 from breast cancer, though death rates have been decreasing since 1989. Women under 50 have experienced larger decreases. These decreases are thought to be the result of treatment advances, earlier detection through screening, and increased awareness.

Christine’s personal story has been featured in prestigious magazines like American Volkssport Association, Edge, Inner Realm, The Art of Healing; Kindred Spirit, Outreach, and more. Christine has also been featured as a breast cancer advocate and expert on Fox News Radio. Production for the movie is anticipated to begin in 2019.

It’s the story of a woman who peels away the layers to find her inner warrior, a woman who faces insurmountable odds and—thanks to her earthly Angelslearns to treasure the gift of God’s infinite light and love. Christine says, “It took nearly dying to realize how much I want to live.”

With a passion to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness, Christine Handy participates in countless events telling her story and discussing her book, ‘Walk Beside Me’, and is always available for book-signings.

“The events are all about getting major companies to support breast cancer,” explained Christine — who sits on the board of E-Beauty, a non-profit based in Miami, Florida that redistributes wigs. She has helped them send out over 20,000 wigs to date and recently John Paul Mitchell has just come on board to wash all the wigs donated to her charity. They are doing collaborations and talks at various venues to generate awareness and raising money for E-Beauty. "We truly are who we surround ourselves with and because of that we must choose wisely our friends and companions. My motto is that there is purpose in pain, but it’s a choice to use it to help others. My book is now in its second publishing and I have another novel on the way," said Christine.

South Florida contemporary artist Skip Hartzell creates incredible dog-inspired art for art lovers and dog lovers alike. From paintings, sculptures, works on paper, to wall installations, Hartzell’s work is unique, sophisticated and heartfelt, with a playful touch. The artist is passionate about his subject matter and donates proceeds from the sale of his artworks to animal-rescue no kill shelters.

Dog Sculptures made with Resin, Paper and Concrete

“Dogs are always in the moment. Although nothing in life has held my attention longer or has been more fascinating to me than dogs, my work is about much more than that. It is about form, movement, color and texture. The dogs are a recognizable common denominator that allows me to communicate my joy of living, passions and sentiments,” said Skip Hartzell.

Skip Hartzell's dogs are anything but ordinary. Donning a shirt that reads, “I support putting dog abusers to sleep,” with dog patterned suspenders – it’s clear from the first introduction that Hartzell’s affinity for canines transcends the average.

'Litter', Flashe & Graphite on Paper, 42 x 60 Inches

The biggest disservice a viewer could do to Hartzell’s work is liken it to mere dog-art. Hartzell is not a dog-painter, but instead an artist who is keen on exploring the movement, form, and energy embodied by man’s best friend. "Dogs are always in the moment. Although nothing in life has held my attention longer or has been more fascinating to me than dogs, my work is about much more than that. It is about form, movement, color and texture. The dogs are a recognizable common denominator that allows me to communicate my joy of living, passions and sentiments." -Skip Hartzell.
